# Pearls

Pearls are rare, valuable items used to unlock perk upgrades and supplies. Pearls can be found in three qualities: **Crude, Shiny, Glimmering**. Higher-quality pearls are significantly rarer and required for later upgrades.

* Crude and Shiny pearls can be exchanged at the [Fishing Craftsman](/features/fishing/shops.md#fishing-craftsman) at a **10:1** rate (up or down).
* The **Lustrous Hook** and **Pearl Magnet** perks can increase the quality and quantity of caught Pearls.

## Catch Chance

Pearls have a base catch chance of **5%**, which can be increased by the following

* Fishing during a **Lustrous Storm** (+5%)
* Fishing at a Fishing Hotspot with an **Pearl Chance** buff (+5%)
* Upgrading the **Pearl Chance** perk (up to +5%)
* Activating an **Pearl Lure** (+100%)
